On the Responsibility to Govern

Our country is at its best when public service is treated as a duty, not a privilege. Government touches every community and every generation. The people who serve in it must understand the significance of that responsibility.

I believe in capable institutions, clear priorities, and a willingness to question policies that no longer serve their intended purpose. Public resources should be managed with the same seriousness that families bring to their own budgets. National security should be approached with preparation rather than improvisation. Public servants should be expected to work with competence, fairness, and respect.

There will be difficult decisions and competing perspectives. Those disagreements are part of democratic government. Our responsibility is to listen, decide, explain, and remain answerable for the outcome.
